Lufthansa will launch a year-round nonstop service between Kuala Lumpur and Frankfurt on October 25, 2026. The route will operate five times a week, adding a direct Malaysia–Germany option for passengers travelling between the two cities and for those connecting through Frankfurt.

The published schedule excludes Tuesdays and Thursdays. Flight LH704 is due to leave Frankfurt at 9:30 p.m. and arrive in Kuala Lumpur at 4:40 p.m. local time the following day. The return service, LH705, is scheduled to depart Kuala Lumpur at 11:55 p.m. and arrive at 6:00 a.m. the next day in the Rhine-Main region, according to Lufthansa’s announcement.
That timetable gives the route an overnight long-haul pattern in both directions. The five-day schedule may suit travellers with flexible dates, while passengers tied to Tuesday or Thursday departures will need to plan around the two weekly gaps.
Frankfurt is central to the route’s network role
Lufthansa says the timings are coordinated with its global network from Frankfurt to facilitate onward connections. The service is consequently relevant to two groups: passengers whose journey ends in Kuala Lumpur and travellers using Frankfurt as a transfer point for longer European itineraries.
For travellers starting in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium or Italy, Lufthansa says Lufthansa Airlines will be the only carrier offering nonstop flights to Malaysia from those home markets. The announcement positions the route as both a point-to-point connection and an extension of the airline’s European network through its Frankfurt gateway.
A Boeing 787 configured across three classes
The service will be operated by a Boeing 787 with 287 seats across three classes. Lufthansa says the aircraft will feature its Allegris cabin, the configuration it is associating with the new route. Jens Ritter, CEO of Lufthansa Airlines, described the route and the Dreamliner as part of the group’s effort to participate in Southeast Asia’s growth and strengthen its premium-comfort offering.
Kuala Lumpur will become the Lufthansa Group’s fourth Southeast Asian destination, following Bangkok, Singapore and Phuket. The addition expands the group’s listed Southeast Asian network with a direct link to Frankfurt, Lufthansa’s main European gateway for this service.
The confirmed details are the October 25 start date, year-round operation, five weekly flights, the operating days, the published timings and the Boeing 787 configuration. Fares and booking availability are not specified in the announcement, so travellers will need to check those details when the service is opened for sale.
Lufthansa’s plan adds a regular nonstop connection between Kuala Lumpur and the Rhine-Main region from October 2026. Its immediate practical value will depend on a passenger’s travel dates and need for onward connections, but the route’s schedule, aircraft and network purpose are already defined.
